I want to buy a macbook for adobe production premium.?
Would a 15-inch: 2.8GHz Macbook pro do?
Do I need to customize it?

hmm... one of the reason I'm interested in a mac is because a lot of production studios uses mac.
If we can get better performance from a PC, why do studios use Macs?

Some food for thought:
Adobe Creative Suite 4 is specially designed to take advantage of multi-core processors, specifically quad-core processors. None of the Macbooks have a quad core processor.
That Macbook has two low-end, old graphics cards in it. It has to use a mode call SLI to use both at once which is much less efficient than 1 powerful card.
The hard drive is a base 5400rpm. For video editing you should have 7200rpm at minimum. And if I were you, I would go out and buy the 300GB 10,000rpm VelociRaptor hard drive. It will make a very noticeable difference.

Price: $2,300
Now, looking at a high end laptop from another company.
ASUS G51J:
Latest i7 quad core processor, with hyper-threading to turn 4 physical cores into 8 virtual cores... Adobe will love that! (not to mention it is better than the 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo)
nVidia 260m video card. This is the second best consumer ranged video card from nVidia and it can out perform the 9400m and 9600m in their SLI mode.
Two 320GB 7200rpm hard drives. Means you can upgrade one of them to that VelociRaptor to hold your videos and programs to significantly decrease your loading times while still having another drive for extra storage. (300GB VelociRaptor + 500GB 7200rpm drive = 800GB total!)
Full High Definition 1920x1080 screen. Better screen for better video quality and more information on the screen at once.
Extra spiffy things: High performance thermal compound for both the CPU and GPU for more stable and higher performance, DDR3 1333MHz RAM instead of 1066MHz, optional BluRay burner drive for creating BluRay movies with Adobe Production Premium (not optional in the MacBook), 2 year standard warranty and 1 year accidental damage is the base coverage.
Things that don't matter too much but are nice: Razor Gaming Mouse (2000dpi, 1ms response time, and 5 macros you can pre-program for adjusting your sensitivity on the fly which is REALLY useful for media editing) worth ~$70, a Targus laptop backpack worth ~$80, and a free download for the new Batman PC game ~$50.
With the 4GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM upgrade, IC Diamond thermal compound on the CPU and GPU upgrade, BluRay Burner upgrade, and upgrading one of the hard drives to 500GB 7200rpm. The price is $2,024... a good $276 below the much less equipped MacBook Pro.
Use that $276 for that VelociRaptor drive (~$200) and you still have $76 left over... And you have an absolutely amazing system that will run circles around the MacBook Pro.
You still set on the Mac?

I do not know why *some* studios still use the Mac. It doesn't make much sense why they would invest so much money into underpowered systems. Even the Mac Pro desktop is pretty bad for doing graphic design. They do have nice processors in them (the Mac Pro) but graphic design depends heavily on the graphics card and they use low end consumer range cards, or one high-mid range card, in their desktops.
A person doing serious, heavy media editing (or high quality video encoding/rendering) usually knows that they want a desktop with a workstation graphics card which is built just for media and scientific modeling. Those kinds of cards power through that stuff at significantly higher rates than the Mac's graphics.
The only thing I can think of is the image. Macs used to be pretty good at media editing (a good portion of that reason though was that the professional programs used for media editing were exclusively for Macs, so you didn't have much of a choice) but now they are just like any other PC hardware wise, and the operating system certainly doesn't allow for any better media editing than a Windows based computer would.
And as far as I am aware, all of the big companies use specialized computers for their animation and media production. Either running some version of Windows or Linux.
